Ancillaries are traits in Empire: Total War that agents, generals, admirals, and national leaders can pick up. They can range from just being ornamental to being very detrimental to being very beneficial. They are spawned based on how much the agent/general/admiral is used, how many successes they've had, and how many failures they had. National leaders generate ancillaries based on their leadership.
