General InformationEdit

Genoa has the standard European unit roster. It is somewhat more difficult to conquer than Savoy or the Italian States due to its ownership of both the regions of Genoa and Corsica; having a navy or at least a ship is required to defeat this faction through conventional means.

Genoa is one of the few factions that starts the Grand Campaign as a Republic.

Unit RosterEdit

Genoa largely has the generic European roster of units, with an option to train Carabineers.

HistoryEdit

The city of Genoa dates its indipendence as far back as 1000 a. D. Genoa would eventually control all of Liguria and seize the island of Corsica in 1481, becoming a major naval and commercial power. The 18th century, however, was an age of decline: Genoa had to enter an uneasy alliance with Austria during the War of the Austrian Succession, and eventually its debts forced it to sell rebel-ridden Corsica to France in 1768. Genoa and Liguria were annexed by Piedmont-Sardinia in 1815, after the Napoleonic Wars.

TriviaEdit

  • The flag of Genoa is the Cross of St. George, which was the flag of England before it formed a union with Scotland in 1707 and replaced its flag with the Union Jack.
